Come in, come in. The magic is about to begin.
David Parr is an actor, author and magician who has been fascinated by the strange and mysterious since childhood. When David is not busy mystifying guests at corporate events and private parties, he devotes his time to theatrical endeavors. These projects usually include an emphasis on history or literature. Around Halloween, David can often be found haunting atmospheric locations with original shows such as Visions of Poe, an interactive journey into the tales and poems of Edgar Allan Poe, or Haunting History, a guided tour of the shadowy territory where history meets myth and folklore. In 2007, David Parr and actor-magician PT Murphy created The Magic Cabaret, a show dedicated to celebrating the rich history of magic in the city of Chicago. The Magic Cabaret premiered at the famous Biograph Theater. The show is now running at the Greenhouse Theater Center, where it is beginning its sixth year!
In the hidden world of magicians, David is best known for his theatrical performing style and for his writing and teaching skills. In addition to providing guidance and instruction to magicians at lecture appearances across the United States — including at Hollywood’s prestigious Magic Castle — David has written two highly acclaimed books for magicians. His thought-provoking writings about the art of magic have been featured in publications in the US, Germany, France, Australia, and Sweden. David is currently an editor for MAGIC Magazine, one of the world’s top magic journals.
